Spinal traction can be performed in a horizontal or vertical position of the patient. The electronic system automatically maintains the pulling force at a given level or changes it in accordance with a given program. At the end of the procedure, the Eltrac 471 traction device will smoothly reduce the effort and give a sound signal.

Traction modes can be adjusted depending on the patient's pathology: in continuous mode, Eltrac 471 smoothly sets the desired traction load after the start of the procedure and maintains it throughout the entire procedure. In pulsed mode, the patient's load will change according to a given program. The program for changing the pulling force is set using the touch screen. The absence of mechanical controls facilitates user training and reduces traction device failures.

If pain occurs, the patient can interrupt the procedure using the emergency switch in his hands during the procedure. To prevent accidental overloading of the cervical spine in the Eltrac 471 dry traction apparatus, there is an additional confirmation of loads over 20 kg.

For dry horizontal traction of the cervical and lumbar spine, special tables from the Manumed Special Traction series are used. They have a movable leg section and are adapted for correct fixation of the patient during the traction procedure. The height of the couches can be adjusted electrically or hydraulically. A couch with a fixed height, a mobile frame and a wall bar attachment for vertical cervical traction are also available.
